Specimen Preparation System
The Specimen Preparation System Module is a stand-alone robotic work cell designed to be deployed into locations where fluid specimens are collected by phlebotomist's and then shipped by courier to one or more laboratories for analysis. Currently the phlebotomist will draw the sample, label the tubes with the accession information, spin down the sample, if required, and sort the sample into the appropriate container for the courier. This is a repetitive, time consuming task, keeping the lab tech from other duties. The Specimen Preparation System will automate the centrifugation and sorting of sample tubes into automation ready racks for transport to a regional laboratory, hospital or other location. These racks provide a means for laboratory personnel to easily load specimen tubes directly onto the Transport System.
