Labotix Benefits

What is Open Automation

As the original open architecture lab automation line, Labotix will sort and deliver all specimens to all analyzers, from any vendor, anywhere in your lab. Labotix allows you to use your current analyzers or choose best of breed to work with our system. You may also change analyzers at anytime without replacing the entire automation line. With installations around the globe, Labotix has the experience and reliability to build a system for any size lab. With a complete menu of supplemental modules – ranging from auto-loaders and de-cappers to re-cappers and refrigerated storage – LABOTIX will build a system that increases efficiency in any size lab.

Efficiency

Labotix open automation efficiently sorts and delivers specimens to all analyzers everywhere in the lab, freeing up those skilled technologists to deal with the true tasks at hand, the exceptions. We have shown that automation can save up to 50% of costs by automating routine tasks and freeing up technologists to focus on growth areas of the lab.

Increased Capacity

The health care industry is consolidating. Factors driving this are well known: larger labs have lower unit operating costs and smaller labs are unable to compete. The volume of tests requested is also growing due to the aging U.S. population, which puts pressure on the laboratory to perform more tests in the same space with the same staff levels. Automation helps a laboratory increase capacity, but hold costs constant.

Quality Improvement

Automating routine tasks eliminates the careless mistakes often associated with mundane and repetitive activities. Laboratories equipped with Labotix’s RRUSH® systems don’t misplace specimens, mix up aliquots, or lose tubes. Staff morale following automation is generally higher as lab technicians spend most of their time dealing with the interesting, exceptional cases.

Flexibility

The advantage of the RRUSH approach to automation is its complete flexibility. Each system is based on our family of modules that can be combined in a number of configurations in order to create an automation solution which will fit the needs and budget of each client precisely. Further, as a modular system, it is easily expanded or adjusted to suit changing laboratory requirements - at any time. Analyzers can be changed without changing the track. You can mix and match the brands that best meet the needs of your lab and even change the physical shape of the system, if required.

Practicality

Labotix delivers practical automation so that repetitive, tedious tasks are automated and complex tasks requiring skilled interpretation are left to trained technologists. This division of labor is facilitated by the distinctive design of the Labotix transport system that sorts and routes tubes automatically.

Other Benefits

The decision to automate encourages the laboratory to examine its workflow patterns and efficiencies in all areas of operation. In order to optimize the benefits provided by automation, a laboratory should have a clear understanding of which activities are cost effective and which are not. Successful introduction of laboratory automation requires careful study and understanding of how and why a laboratory undertakes specific tasks. This study is done in partnership with a prospective customer, starting with a detailed study of the operation, which assesses the current and future requirements of the lab. This analysis frequently results in the laboratory adopting measures to gain efficiency in areas aside from the newly automated tasks.
